The Misericordia University women's tennis team fell to Wilkes 7-2 on Thursday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex in what was the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.
Breanne Phillips earned a hard-fought, come-from-behind victory at fourth singles, using a 6-1 second set and 10-8 tiebreaker to make up for a first-set loss.
Emily Gherghel played one of her best matches of the season to earn the win at fifth singles, defeating the Colonels' Amanda Rossi 6-3, 6-0.

Emily Hullings came up just short at third doubles, falling 8-5.
The MU women will travel to Bryn Mawr on Tuesday.
