The Misericordia University women's tennis team was edged by King's College, 5-4 on Monday afternoon in the completion of a match that was suspended on Wednesday due to weather.
Michelle Cameron and
Cassie Foy defeated the Monarchs' Sara Lynn and Madeline Griffin 8-3 at first doubles, but MU's second doubles duo of Brea Phillips and
Emily Gherghel fell to Liz Demko and Emily Biffen 8-2 at second doubles.
Play was suspended on Wednesday with MU's third doubles pair of
Emily Boro and
Emily Hullings tied with the Monarchs' duo of Kate Rossowski and Nicole Molina at 7-7. That match would prove to be the key, as Boro and Hullings took a heartbreaking 9-8 loss by falling 7-4 in the tiebreaker.
Boro earned a come-from-behind three-set victory over Biffen at third singles (2-6, 6-4, 6-1) while Gherghel (6-2, 6-0) and Hullings (6-4, 6-3) won in straight sets at fourth and fifth singles.
Foy fell to Lynn 6-2, 6-1 at first singles while Phillips fell to Griffin 6-1, 6-3 at second singles. Bressler also fell to Molina in a hardfought 6-4, 6-3 match at sixth singles.
