9/28/2013 6:58:00 PM

Box Score Junior Megan Mahoney scored in the 76th minute to help lead the Misericordia University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over visiting Arcadia on Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Mahoney had her initial shot from five yards out saved by Arcadia keeper Jaclyn Law but the rebound caromed right back to Mahoney who put the uncontested shot home for the game winner.

The win moves the Cougars to 7-1-1 overall while the loss was Arcadia's first of the year. The Knights fall to 7-1-2.

The two teams had limited chances offensively for most of the game, with the best prior chance for a goal coming when Meghan Antrim had a shot saved with 25 minutes left and when Melia Ochsner had a header hit the crossbar with 22 minutes left for the Knights.

The Cougars outshot Arcadia 17-8 for the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Maureen Ciccosanti had two saves in net for Misericordia.

The Cougars next game is Oct. 2 at Ithaca in a rematch of the 2012 NCAA Sweet 16.
