Box Score Despite a near perfect night from
Hannah Seely, the Misericordia University women's basketball team fell to DeSales, 76-66, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Seely connected on her first 10 shots from the floor, including 9-9 in the first half, for a team-high 22 points.
Justine Seely recorded a double-double with 16 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Katie Drayton added eight points and seven assists.
With MU down by four with just under 10 minutes to play, the Bulldogs stretched the lead to 67-56 with 2:38 to go.
DeSales converted eight free throws in the final 90 seconds to seal the win.
Misericordia trailed 36-34 at halftime and the teams traded baskets for much of the second half with DeSales clinging to a 48-45 lead with 12 minutes remaining.
After DeSales went up by eight, 55-47,
Justine Seely and
Sam Baro made back-to-back jumpers to pull within 55-51 with 10 minutes left.
Hannah Seely carried the Cougars in the first half with nine of MU's 14 field goals.
DeSales methodically built a 28-17 midway through the period before the Cougars charged back to take a one-point lead.
Hannah Seely started the run with a pair of jumpers and then found
Shannon Croasdale on a driving layup to get MU within 28-23 with 7:20 to go in the half.
Hannah Seely and Croasdale both made jumpers to cut it to 32-29 with 4:00 to play and
Justine Seely added a free throw.
Another short jumper from
Hannah Seely cut the deficit to one and she followed with another off a Drayton steal to give MU a 34-33 lead.
DeSales closed the half with three free throws in the final minute to take a 36-34 halftime lead.
MU will host Delaware Valley, Saturday at 1:00.
