Seely, Croasdale Lead MU Past Del Val

Box Score The Misericordia University women's basketball opened the second half with a big run and cruised to an 80-61 win over Delaware Valley, Saturday afternoon in the Anderson Center.

Hannah Seely and Shannon Croasdale both recorded double-doubles to lead five MU players in double figures.

Seely had 18 points and 11 rebounds while Croasdale had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Sam Baro added 16 points and Katie Drayton and Justine Seely added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Down 34-33 at halftime, the Cougars scored nine straight points to open the second half and take a 43-34 lead.

Hannah Seely scored the first six points of the half and Sam Baro buried a three-pointer from the right corner to cap the run.

Justine Seely's layup made stretched the lead to 10 and Drayton found Sam Baro for a layup and a 55-43 lead with 11:32 to play.

The Aggies cut the margin to 64-59 with 5:39 to play, but the Cougars went on a 16-2 spurt to close the game.

Croasdale finished a 7-0 run with layup for a 71-59 lead and Hannah Seely found Drayton underneath for a 13-point lead with 3:25 to play.

The Seely sisters combined for eight points in the opening minutes as the Cougars opened a quick 10-2 lead.

Hannah Seely scored the game's first four points and Justine Seely made it 6-2 with a short jumper.

Hannah Seely's driving layup and a jumper from Croasdale put MU ahead 10-2 just four minutes into the game.

The Aggies chipped away and eventually forged an 18-18 tie midway through the period.

Katie Drayton followed with a pair of buckets to give MU a 24-20 lead.

Sam Baro drained a three-pointer from the right wing off an assister from her sister, Nikki, to stretch the lead to 27-22 with 7:09 to play.

The Aggies answered with a 9-0 to take their first lead of the game and led 34-28 with 3:00 to go in the half.

Misericordia improved to 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the Freedom Conference.  The Cougars will visit King's, Wednesday.
