Box Score The Misericordia University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Susquehanna, 83-69, Wednesday.
Matt Greene led the Cougars with 20 points while
Steve Ware added 10.
After trailing by 11 midway through the first half, the Cougars battled back to within 31-26 at halftime.
Greene sandwiched a three-pointer in between layups by Ware and
Erik Kerns to cut the deficit to 33-29 with 2:41 to go in the half.
The Cougars got within four points again early in the second half, but never got any closer.
Down 56-44 with 12:07 remaining, Greene and
Griffin Sponaugle both hit three pointers to cut the margin in half, 56-50, with 11:21 to play.
Susquehanna answered with seven straight points to build a 63-50 advantage.
Five points from Greene and four from
Andrew Moran got the Cougars back within 67-59 with 7:02 to go.
With Susquehanna up 75-63 with less than five minutes to play, Sponaugle drilled a three-pointer and
Joe Busacca made a free throw to make it 75-67 with 2:38 left.
But, Susquehanna maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way.
Misericordia, 5-7, will return to Freedom Conference play at Eastern, Wednesday, January 15.
