Box Score Meghan Stack and Shelby Brochetti combined for 38 kills as the Misericordia University women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in the Freedom Conference with a 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 21-25, 17-25, 15-5) win at Manhattanville, Wednesday.

Stack had a team-high 20 kills and 28 digs while Brochetti added 18 kills, 29 digs and three aces.

Nicole Tagerty had 46 assists and 16 digs and Kellyn Swanson added eight kills.

Paige Shaughnessy had seven kills and nine digs.

Trailing 23-20 in the opener, the Cougars took a timeout and Natalie Burns recorded back-to-back kills to pull within a point.

A Valiants error and Brochetti's kill gave MU a 24-23 lead.

Tied 24-24, a Manhattanville ball handling error put the Cougars back in front and Shaughnessy closed the set with a kill.

Brochetti had four kills and an ace to give the Cougars an early 10-2 lead in the second set.

Manhattanville eventually battled back to within two points at 24-22, but a bad Valiants set gave the Cougars a 25-22 win.

Misericordia never trailed by more than four points in the third set, but never held the lead in a 25-21 loss.

Manhattanville opened the fourth set with six straight points and raced out to an 11-4 lead.

MU battled back to within 19-14, but Manhattanville won 25-17 to tie the match, 2-2.

After falling behind 1-0 in the decisive set, Brochetti and Swanson had two kills each to give MU a 4-2 lead and the Cougars never looked back.

Another Swanson kill made it 6-3 and Stack had two kills to put the Cougars up, 9-5.

Three consecutive attack errors by the Valiants stretched the lead to 13-5 and Brochetti and Burns combined on a block for a 14-5 advantage before another Manhattanville attack error closed the match.

Misericordia improved to 11-10 overall and will play a tri-match with Lycoming at Messiah, Saturday.
