Box Score Meghan Antrim's hat trick led the Misericordia University women's soccer team to a 7-0 win over Eastern, Thursday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Cougars improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the Freedom Conference and gave head coach
Mark Stauffer his 200
th career victory in the process.
In his 15
th season, Stauffer is 200-89-16.
Jacqueline Stevens added two goals and
Kailee Crockett had one while
Erin McGreal had two assists.
Antrim and the Cougars jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and never looked back.
Kylen Smith served a ball into the box from the left wing that
Amber Hartranft finished for a 1-0 just 2:04 into the game.
Antrim gathered a loose ball that deflected off an Eastern defender and fired a shot from 25 yards out for a 2-0 lead at 6:02.
Stevens made it 3-0 just two minutes later when she buried her own rebound from six yards out.
Stevens struck again when she carried down the middle of the field, dodged a defender and fired a shot from 20 yards away for a 4-0 lead at 9:07.
The Cougars stretched the lead to 5-0 when
Erin McGreal served a ball from the right flank and found Antrim in front at 14:35.
The duo repeated the play nine minutes later as Antrim finished the hat trick at 24:21.
The Cougars added a second-half when
Kailee Crockett ripped a shot from the right flank that deflected off an Eastern defender and inside the right post at 59:20.
Eastern's best scoring opportunity came with 15 minutes remaining when Amber Stirling had a breakaway down the left side, but
Alyssa Pojero made the point-blank save to preserved the shutout.
Misericordia will travel to Manhattanville, Saturday.
