Arcadia Volleyball Rallies Past Cougars

Box Score The Misericordia University women's volleyball team dropped a tough non-conference decision at Arcadia, Saturday, 3-2 (25-17, 25-13, 16-25, 19-25, 10-15).

The Cougars took the first two sets before losing three straight to fall to 15-14 on the season.

Shelby Brochetti led the Cougars with 16 kills while Meghan Stack had 12 kills, five aces and 20 digs.

Megan Collins added eight kills and Nicole Tagerty had 38 assists.

In the first set, the Cougars used a Brochetti kill and two Arcadia attack errors to take a 5-2 lead and never trailed again.

Leading 14-10, the Cougars scored four straight points to take an 18-10 lead and the Knights didn't get within six points the rest of the way.

In the second set, Stack had three straight aces during a 7-0 run to break a 7-7 tie as the Cougars pulled away.

Misericordia led throughout much of the third set, but Arcadia eventually pulled even, 18-18.

Arcadia took a 23-21 lead, but two straight attack errors pulled the Cougars even.

Down 24-23, Brochetti's kill tied it again, but Arcadia followed with a kill and ace to win it.

The Cougars led 2-0 in the fourth set, but the Knights rallied and eventually built an 18-9 led to force a decisive fifth set.

Two Brochetti kills gave the Cougars an early 3-2 lead, but Arcadia responded with a 9-0 run to take an 11-3 lead.

Three straight Arcadia errors made it 11-6, but that's as close as the Cougars came.

MU will return to Freedom Conference action when they host DeSales, Tuesday.
