Box Score Despite a dominating 28-6 advantage in shots, the 15
th-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie on Friday afternoon at DeSales.

Megan Mahoney had two goals in the tie while
Erin McGreal added an assist and
Maureen Ciccosanti collected three saves in net for MU.

The Cougars proved to be the bigger threat offensively in both halves, but DeSales keeper, Michellse Churchman, kept the Bulldogs in the game with 10 saves.

MU picked up the first goal of the game when McGreal played a thru ball from the middle of the field to Mahoney on the right side of the box that brought Churchman out of the net. Mahoney had the first touch to beat the keeper to the right side of the box hammer the ball into a wide-open goal.

DeSales tied the game in the 12
th minute when Jessica Weatherhold bent a shot into the top left corner of the net.

Mahoney then capitalized on a DeSales foul inside the box, drilling a penalty kick into the top right corner of the net to give MU a 2-1 lead in the 23
rd minute.

The Cougars earned the corner when
Amber Hartranft played a ball back to Mahoney at the top of the box and the Bulldog defender went for the tackle, but missed the ball, bringing Mahoney to the ground.

MU continued to dominate the first half as Mahoney nearly added to the Cougars lead, winning a 50/50 ball and sprinting past the defender, but her shot went just wide.

Alex Gallagher then had a chance for the Cougars in the 27
th minute when she took the ball from a far side and popped it up to herself and drilled it towards the net, but Churchman made a diving save to keep the MU lead at just 2-1.

DeSales then tied the game just over five minutes into the second half when an MU defender received a red card for a foul in the box. Despite a stellar diving effort from Ciccosanti, Walsh's penalty kick sailed into the top left of the net.

Later in the second half,
Devin Simpson served up a great ball off of a direct kick from 45 yards right to Antrim who tried to flick it into the back of the net, but Churchill was in perfect position to make the save and keep the score tied at 2-2.

In the first overtime Mahoney served a ball on a corner right in front of the net and Churchhill came flying out of the net and punched the ball out of the box.

Ciccosanti then made her best save of the night when Walsh passed a ball to Belen Perez in front of the net and Ciccosanti made a great save to keep the game tied at 2-2.

The Cougars nearly won the game midway through the first overtime when
Emily Szeflinski crossed a ball to the front of the net and McGreal was able to get her foot on it, but a DeSales defender bailed the keeper out with a defensive save.

Neither the Cougars, nor the Bulldogs mustered a chance in the remainder of the first overtime and neither team had any great chances in the second overtime, leading to the 2-2 tie.

In addition to the Cougars huge advantage in shots, they also held an 8-3 advantage in corners.

With the tie, MU finishes their regular season 15-2-1, and 6-0-1 in the conference. DeSales finished their regular season 9-5-4 and 6-0-1 in the conference.

The Cougars begin their post-season with the Freedom Confernece semifinal game, Wednesday evening at 7:00 against Delaware Valley at Mangelsdorf Field.
