Box Score The Misericordia University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Freedom Conference action with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-20) sweep over FDU-Florham, Tuesday night at the Anderson Center.
Paige Shaughnessy and
Shelby Brochetti led the Cougars with eight kills each while
Meghan Stack added seven kills.
Nicole Tagerty had 22 assists and three aces and
Ariana Gagliardi had five aces.
The Cougars trailed early in the first set, but took control on two kills by Brochetti from the left side and back-to-back aces by Gagliardi for an 18-12 lead.
Swanson and Stack combined for a block to make it 19-14 and Shaughnessy and Swanson both had big kills to put MU ahead, 23-19.
Stack's push made it 24-19 and an FDU-Florham misplay ended the set.
Shaughnessy opened MU's scoring in the second set with a smash down the left side and
Lexi Giannone had three aces as the Cougars raced out to an 8-1 lead.
Shaughnessy hit through two blockers and Gagliardi had two straight aces to make it 12-4.
After Tagerty's ace gave the Cougars an 18-8 lead, the Devils rallied to within 23-19, but Stack hit through two blockers on the right side for a 24-19 advantage.
In the finale, Tagerty had two aces as the Cougars took a quick 5-0 lead.
Brochetti and Gagliardi both had aces and Shaughnessy added a cross court kill from the left side for a 13-8 lead.
Coleby Charlier had a kill in the middle and combined with Stack for a block and Brochetti ripped a shot down the left side as part of a 4-0 run to make it 19-11.
Misericordia will host Scranton, Thursday.
