Box Score The Misericordia University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 15-25, 20-25) decision to the University of Scranton, Thursday night in the Anderson Center.
Shelby Brochetti led the Cougars with nine kills, two aces and 11 digs.
Megan Collins had six kills for MU.
The Cougars fell behind 6-1 in the opener, but pulled within 7-6 on a pair of
Ariana Gagliardi aces and a cross court push from
Meghan Stack.
Brochetti sandwiched a pair of kills around a
Natalie Burns kill to tie it, 14-14.
Scranton closed the set on an 11-3 run.
Tied 15-15 in the second set, Misericordia turned the tables on the Royals.
Brochetti's ace made it 17-15 and Collins had a kill inside the back left corner for a 19-15 lead.
Collins hit through two blockers for a 20-16 lead.
Swanson's ace made it 24-18 and Stack's dink inside the right sideline to clinch the win.
The Royals closed the third set on a 10-5 run for a 25-15 win.
Scranton raced out to an 8-0 lead in the fourth set, but the Cougars eventually pulled within 19-18, but the Royals held on for the win.
MU will host Alvernia and New Jersey City in a tri-match, Saturday.
