Box Score Joe Busacca had 14 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 61-52 win over Adrian in their season opener, Saturday at the Widener Tip-Off for Autism Awareness.

The Cougars will face Widener, Sunday at 3:00 in the championship game.

Jacob Battle had nine points and
Griffin Sponaugle,
Steve Ware and
Erik Kerns all had eight points.

Kerns had a team-high seven rebounds.

Trailing 12-2 early, the Cougars converted 21 Adrian turnovers into 28 points to their comeback.

After Adrian stretched their lead to 21-8 with 7:19 to play in the first half, the Cougars used a 19-2 run to close the half and take a 27-23 lead into halftime.

Battle and
Jesse Urich hit three-pointers to pull with 22-15 and Busacca and Widdoss added layups to make it a 22-19.

Kerns sank a pair of free throws and Sponaugle drilled a three-pointer to give MU a 24-23 lead with 1:50 to go.

Busacca and Kerns combined for three free throws to close out the half.

Urich and Battle both nailed three-pointers to give MU a 47-37 lead with 8:15 remaining in the game and Adrian never got closer than five points the rest of the way.
