Former Misericordia baseball stars
Kenny Durling (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) and
Steve Sulcoski (Hanover Township, PA aren't ready to hang up their cleats just yet.
Both players are spending their winter playing in the Texas Winter League, which is a league for players hoping to sign professional baseball contracts for the upcoming season. According to the league's website, around 75% of the Texas Winter League's players signed professional contracts for the 2013 season.

Durling is currently playing with the Fort Worth Cats and is hitting .333 with two doubles, two triples and seven RBI in 11 games. He went 2-4 with a triple and two runs batted in against the San Antonio Alamos on Feb. 15.

He finished his senior season at Misericordia hitting .396 and led the team with eight home runs and 67 runs scored and 54 RBI. He Misericordia's all-time career leader in multiple categories including: games (179), at bats (643), hits (234), doubles (63), total bases (405), and RBI (183).

Sulcoski is playing with the Abilene Prairie Dogs and is hitting .250 with three doubles and 10 RBI. He went 2-4 and knocked in three runs in a 16-2 win over the McAllen Thunder on Feb. 15.

Sulcoski played his first three seasons at Shippensburg University before transferring to Misericordia for the 2013 season where he was a Second Team All-Freedom Conference selection at designated hitter. He tied Durling for the team lead with 54 RBI.

Representatives from the American Association, Frontier League, United League, and Can-Am League, as well as coaches and scouts from the Phillies, Marlins, and Diamondbacks are in attendance looking to sign players. The Texas Winter League wraps up Feb. 23.Â
