Box Score The Misericordia University women's basketball team went cold in the second half in a 66-52 loss to Wilkes, Thursday night at the Anderson Center.
Sam Baro led Misericordia with 16 points while
Justine Seely had nine points and 11 rebounds.Â
Shannon Croasdale added nine points and
Katie Drayton had seven points and seven assists.
The Cougars led 35-32 at halftime, but scored just 17 points after intermission.
The teams traded baskets throughout the first half with neither team leading by more than four points.
Drayton's driving layup pulled Misericordia even, 9-9, and she found
Sam Baro underneath to tie it again, 11-11, midway through the half.
Drayton added another driving layup and then found
Nikki Baro underneath for a 15-14 lead.
Sam Baro drilled a three-pointer from the left corner for an 18-14 advantage.
Down 19-18, Croasdale hit a three-pointer from the left wing to put MU back in front.
Croasdale's baseline jumper put the Cougars ahead 25-23 and
Sam Baro's from the left wing made it 30-25 with 2:38 to play.
With 13 seconds to play,
Sam Baro broke a 32-32 tie with a three-pointer from the same spot off a cross-court pass from Croasdale.
Wilkes opened the second on a 15-1 run to take a 47-36 lead with 12:00 remaining.
Hannah Seely's putback and Drayton's layup made it 47-40 and
Justine Seely's free throw pulled the Cougars within 47-41 with 9:03 to play.
But, the Cougars never got any closer and Wilkes pulled away in the final minutes.
Misericordia, 7-12 overall and 3-6 in the Freedom, will travel to DeSales, Saturday.
