Box Score The Misericordia University women's soccer team (3-0) used a combination of stellar defense and a relentless offensive attack to defeat visiting Susquehanna University (1-2-1) by a score of 2-0 at Mangelsdorf Field on Monday night.
Alex Gallagher and
Erin McGreal had the goals for the Cougars while
Alexa Alchevsky picked up an assist en route to the shutout victory.
Maureen Ciccosanti faced just two shots all night and no real scoring threats to earn her third straight shutout.
Gallagher put the Cougars on the board with a good move around a Crusader defender and then sailed the ball into the back left corner of the net, making it a 1-0 game at the 29:51 mark of the first half.
McGreal then gave the Cougars an insurance goal when Alchevsky chipped a pass forward and McGreal finished, making it a 2-0 Cougars' advantage early in the second half.
The Cougars proved to be too much for the Crusaders as they owned a 31-2 advantage in shots with 21 of those shots being on goal.
Jordyn Slocum was the lone bright spot for Susquehanna, recording 19 saves - many of which came on Cougars scoring chances.
The Cougars return to action when they host Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
