Despite a game-high 25 points from
Shelby Brochetti, the Misericordia University women's team dropped a 77-64 decision to Wilkes, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Lauren Smicherko added 13 points for the Cougars.
The Cougars trailed 33-27 at halftime, but fell behind 46-31six minutes into the second half.
Brochetti finished a fast-break layup and buried a three-pointer from the right wing to pull MU within nine points, 51-42, with 10:54 to go.
The Colonels answered with an 11-2 run to take a 62-44 lead.
The Cougars scored seven points from the foul line, including a three-point play from Brochetti, as part of an 8-0 spurt in less than 40 seconds to cut the deficit to 74-64 with 1:19 to play.
Wilkes scored the game's first four points, but Brochetti sandwiched a pair of three-pointers around two Smicherko free throws to pull MU even, 8-8, three minutes into the game.
Jaclyn Hajec's putback gave the Cougars their first lead, 10-8, and Smicherko's driving layup off a nice feed from Hajec stretched the lead to 14-11.
Smicherko went to the bench with her second foul and Wilkes rattled off 10 straight points to go ahead for good, 21-14.
Wilkes led 33-27 at halftime and opened the second half with a 13-4 run.
The Colonels improved to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom and will travel to Delaware Valley, Saturday.
Misericordia fell to 0-14 and 0-3.
