The Misericordia University men's basketball team used a dominating offensive attack and a suffocating defense to capture a 70-41 victory over Freedom Conference foe, King's College, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.

Joe Busacca was terrific yet again, leading the Cougars offense with 19 points while adding six assists.
James Hawk followed with 12 points and
Steve Ware just missed a double-double, posting 10 points and seven boards.
Jamie Egan rounded out the Cougars' scoring with eight points.

MU was terrific from the floor, finishing the game 25-50, including 10-24 from beyond the arc. The Cougars' also outscored the Monarchs 22-5 in points off of turnovers.

The Cougars' really took over when Busacca heated up from the perimeter early in the second half. The senior guard scored 12 points in a 90-second span to lead MU on a 12-2 run and extend the Cougar's lead to 25 points at 42-17.

MU's offense was just getting started, as Hawk continued to dominate the low post and
Anthony Sergio hit two three pointers from right in front of the Cougars bench to give MU it's largest lead of the game at 63-30 with just over six minutes to play.

The Cougars trailed just once in the game, after King's opened the game with the first two buckets to take a 4-0 lead.

MU came roaring back with back-to-back layups from Hawk and Egan. Busacca gave MU the lead for good with his first three of the game at the 14:43 mark of the first half.

Austin Planes,
Ray Savage,
Patrick Widdoss,
Jesse Urich and
Erik Kerns all added points coming off the Cougar's bench in the victory.

With the win, MU improves to 12-4 on the season and 4-1 in the Freedom Conference while King's falls to 9-7 and 2-3 in the conference.

The Cougars continue Freedom Conference play, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 against Eastern in the Anderson Center.
