MU Rallies Past Wilkes for Sixth Straight Win

The Misericordia University field hockey team used two second half goals to defeat Wilkes, 2-1, in their MAC Freedom regular season finale, Wednesday afternoon.

Haley Gruber scored with 8:46 remaining to lift the Cougars to their sixth straight win.

Jen O'Neill added a goal and assisted on the game-winner as the Cougars improved to 8-9 overall and 5-2 in the MAC Freedom.

Wilkes took a 1-0 lead with 1:01 to play in the first half and the Cougars answered just three minutes into the second half.

Lindsay Hischak carried the ball into the circle and centered to O'Neill to even the score.

O'Neill found Gruber for the game-winner at 61:14.

Angela Pasquini made eight saves to earn the win in goal.

Hischak nearly gave the Cougars the lead midway through the first half, but her shot hit the post.

MU will visit Alvernia, Thursday.
