Davy Leads MU Men Past Lebanon Valley

Box Score Darren Davy scored 17 points in the second half to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 68-65 win over Lebanon Valley, Tuesday night in the Anderson Center.

Davy was perfect (8-8) from the floor and was 3-3 from the foul line for a game-high 19 points.  D.J. Marlow added 12 points, including a game-clinching layup in the closing seconds.

Jason Kenny had 11 points and Tyler McGarry added 10 as the Cougars improved to 3-3.

Griffin Sponaugle had five points and nine assists.

The Cougars used a 12-0 run early in the first half to race out to an 18-5 lead.

Kenny converted a layup off a steal by Tyler McGarry and Marlow went coast-to-coast off a steal to make it 12-5.

McGarry drained a three-pointer from the right corner and followed with an off-balance three from the left corner to cap the run with 13:22 to go in the first half.

The Dutchmen clawed their way back and eventually took a 33-28 halftime lead.

Kenny opened the second half with a three-pointer from the right wing and hit another from the left corner to keep the deficit at 39-34 three minutes into the second half.

Sponaugle pulled up on the right wing to bury a three-pointer and Kenny stole the ensuing inbounds pass and drained a three-pointer from in front of the MU bench to get within 41-40 with 15:55 to play.

Sponaugle found James Hawk underneath to give the Cougars the lead and Marlow's pull up jumper in the lane made it 44-41 with 14:03 remaining.

Tied 50-50 with 8:36 to go, Davy converted a three-point play and converted a layup off a nice feed from Marlow for a 55-50 lead.

Kenny drove the lane and dished to Davy for a layup and 57-50 lead.

Two free throws by Marlow gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the half, 59-50, with 6:51 to go.

Leb Val rallied to take a 65-64 lead with just under two minutes to play, but Davy answered with a short jumper to MU back in front.

Marlow took a steal the length of the floor with under 20 seconds to play and LVC's game-tying attempt was off the mark.

MU, 3-3, will visit Arcadia, Sunday.
