The Misericordia University women's basketball team evened its record with a 65-59 win over Lycoming, Tuesday night at the Anderson Center.
Jackie Hajec and
Rachel Carmody both recorded double-doubles while leading the Cougars with 10 points and 10 rebounds each.
Japriya Carroll and
Alexa Plitt both added eight points each and
Leanne Forsythe added seven points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Liz Waleski had seven points and five rebounds.
Down 29-28 at halftime, the Cougars rallied to take a 45-35 lead late in the third quarter.
Carroll drained a three-pointer from the top of the key to pull the Cougars within a point and
Nikki Baro's putback gave MU a 33-32 lead.
Waleski made two free throws and Plitt buried a three-pointer from the left wing for a 38-32 lead midway through the quarter.
Plitt drained another three from the left wing for a 43-35 lead with 1:29 to go and Hajec's driving layup made it 45-35 with 1:03 remaining.
Lycoming pulled even, 47-47, with 4:55 left in the fourth period, but
Justine Seely converted a three-point play to put MU back in front, 50-47, and the Cougars led the rest of the way.
Waleski drilled a deep three-pointer from the left wing for a 55-50 lead with 3:17 remaining, but Lycoming answered with a three.
Leanne Forsyth hit a pull up jumper in the lane and Plitt, Carroll and Hajec all sank two free throws in the final minute.
MU, 2-2, will host Penn State Harrisburg, Sunday at 3:00.
