The Misericordia men's basketball team won 79-64 over DeSales, Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center.
Jason Kenny led the Cougars in scoring with 19 points and went five for five from three.
Erik Kerns led the team in rebounds with 10 and added nine points while
James Hawk was an efficient 7-9 from the field with 14 points and nine boards.
Griffin Sponaugle scored 11 points and dished out six assists while
Earl Chang did a little of everything, notching seven points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.
Misericordia led by as many as 23, however DeSales got the lead down to seven at 69-62 with 2:18 remaining in the game but a Misericordia 10-0 run got the lead back up to 17 and was capped off by a fast break dunk by Chang that sealed the game.
Midway through the second half MU went on an 11-0 run that included three pointers by Sponaugle and
D.J. Marlow that got the lead to 23.
At the start of the game, Kenny scored the Cougars first 10 points in just over a minute. First he made a layup in the paint, next he drained a three off a Kerns assist, then stole the DeSales inbounds pass and made a layup. Finally, after a MU stop, he made another three to make the score 10-4 Cougars.
Halfway through the first half Hawk scored six points in an 8-0 burst by the Cougars to put them up 13-26 with just over five minutes remaining in the first-half.
At the half Hawk and Kenny had scored 23 of the Cougar 36 while MU held the Bulldogs to 30.3 percent shooting from the field.
The Cougars finished the game having shot 50 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from the three point line while making 11 three's.
MU won the rebound battle 49-33, and tied a season high with 22 assists.
The Cougars move to 4-3 on the year and 1-1 in the MAC Freedom andwill host Utica, Monday at 6:00 p.m.
