The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 58-55 decision to DeSales, Saturday afternoon in the Anderson Center.
Justine Seely led the Cougars with 16 points and 14 rebounds and set two school single-game and career records for blocked shot.
Seely tied her own single-game record for the second game in a row with seven and became MU's all-time leader with 92.
Rachel Carmody added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars.
After a back-and-forth first quarter ended tied 13-13, DeSales outscored the Cougars 14-3 in the second half to take a 27-17 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs stretched the lead to 21 points (37-16) early in the third period before the Cougars used a 9-0 run to get back in the game.
Seely converted a three-point play to start the run and
Ashley Johnson sank a short baseline jumper to cut the deficit to 37-23 with 5:55 to play.
Seely followed with a driving layup and then found
Leanne Forsyth for a jumper in the lane to make it 39-27.
Alexa Plitt made two free throws to cut it to 10 and
Shannon Croasdale drove the baseline to make it 43-35 with under two minutes remaining.
Croasdale found Carmody underneath for a layup and Forsyth made a short jumper in the lane to pull within 43-39, less than a minute to go.
Down 50-43 early in the fourth quarter,
Alexa Plitt drained a deep three-pointer from the left wing to pull within four points.
Seely's putback and a foul line jumper by Carmody tied it, 51-51, with 3:32 to go.
A Seely free throw gave MU their first lead since the first quarter, 52-51, and Waleski buried a wide open three from the right wing for a 55-51 lead with 1:08 remaining.
The Bulldogs scored the last seven points of the game to pull out the win.
Misericordia, 3-4, will host Lebanon Valley in a non-league game, Wednesday at 7:00.
