The Misericordia University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Muhlenberg College on Tuesday afternoon.

Victoria Ciszak threw out the potential tying run at the plate to secure MU's 3-2 victory in the opener. The Cougars then picked up a 2-0 victory in the nightcap.

Megan Hardy led the Cougars' offense in game one with two RBI while
Lori Brennan added an RBI and
Kristi Seiler chipped in with two hits.

Alissa Steier earned the victory in the circle, allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out three in seven innings of work.

The Mules got on the board in the bottom of the third.

MU struck right back in the top of the fourth on Brennan's RBI single up the middle, knotting the score at 1-1.

Hardy then gave MU the lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth.

Muhlenberg added an RBI single in the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2. However, Ciszak threw the potential tying run out at the plate to end the game.

Diana Kestenbaum led MU at the plate in the second game with two hits and one RBI while
Sam Hare drove in the other run for the Cougars and
Whitney Ellenberg had two hits in the victory.

Schies tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out three to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Kestenbaum gave MU the only run they would need with an RBI single in the second.

Hare added an insurance run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly, extending the Cougars' lead to 2-0.

The Cougars hung on for the 2-0 victory to complete the sweep.

With the sweep, MU improves to 21-11 on the season. Muhlenberg falls to 14-13.

The Cougars return to action Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader against Keystone at 3:00.
