The sixth-seeded Misericordia University baseball team picked up a 6-4 victory over third-seeded Johns Hopkins in the opening round of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional championships, Wednesday night at Santander Stadium in York, Pa.

Alec Iurato and
Jeremy DeCotiis drove in one run each to lead the MU offense.

Ryan Dorosh picked up his seventh win of the season with eight strong innings on the mound, striking out three and allowing just three earned runs.
Garrett Pelko tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the year.

The Cougars now move on to face the winner of Wednesday night's game between second-seeded Alvernia and seventh-seeded Catholic University on Thursday night at 7:45 p.m.

The Cougars jumped out to an early lead on Iurato's RBI single through the right side.
Kyle Lindsay then scored on a passed ball later in the top of the first, giving MU a 2-0 lead heading into the home half.

The Blue Jays cut the MU lead to 2-1 on an RBI fielder's choice in the bottom of the third.

Johns Hopkins then tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

The Cougars captured the 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI grounder to second base.

However, the Blue Jays again tied the game on an RBI grounder in the home half.

The Cougars took a 4-3 lead on a passed ball in the sixth, but Johns Hopkins tied the game yet again with a run in the home half.

MU took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Chris Boroch scored on a passed ball and Navoczynski added an RBI single through the left side, giving MU a 6-4 lead.

Neither team plated a run in the final innings and the Cougars hung on for the 6-4 victory.
