The Misericordia University baseball team's season came to an end with a tough 7-5 loss to Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Division III Mid Atlantic Regional Tournament on Friday night at Santander Stadium in York, PA.
Jeremy DeCotiis led the Cougars' offense with three hits and three RBI while
Chris Boroch added three hits.
D.J. Navoczynski drove in one run and
Nick Hair had two hits in the loss.

Michael Turton was credited with the loss on the mound for MU after surrendering four earned runs on six hits while striking out four. Turton was terrific early on, starting the game with four scoreless innings.
Kyle Rogalski allowed just one run while striking out two over three innings of relief for the Cougars.

MU scored the majority of their runs in the bottom of the second inning on DeCotiis' three-run triple.
Steve Cuccio reached on an error, Hair followed with a single through the left side and Westrich bunted them over to second and third. Boroch was hit by a pitch later in the inning to load the bases for DeCotiis with two outs.

Johns Hopkins' offense awoke for a five-run fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead into the home half.

The Blue Jays added one more in the top of the eighth, extending their lead to 6-3.

MU answered with one run in the bottom of the eighth, cutting the Blue Jays lead to two runs at 6-4. Iurato started the rally with a leadoff double and then scored on Navoczynski's double down the left field line. The Cougars threatened to tighten the lead, but eventually stranded runners on first and second.

The Blue Jays capped their scoring with one run in the top of the ninth, extending their lead to 7-4 heading into the home half.

MU made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth, picking up a run on a wild pitch, making it a two-run game at 7-5. The Cougars eventually loaded the bases with one out in the inning. However, the Blue Jays got out of the jam with a game-ending double play.

The Cougars finish their season 31-13. It is the fifth consecutive season MU has won 30 games or more. Johns Hopkins improves to 30-13 and moves on to face Alvernia in an elimination game Saturday morning at 11.
