The eighth-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team beat Franklin & Marshall, 2-0, at Mangelsdorf Field, Wednesday.

Kylen Smith turned in a strong performance, notching a goal and an assist.
Alex Gallagher scored a goal and
Emily Szeflinski added an assist.

Smith scored 15 minutes into the game, taking a pass from Szeflinski down the left wing before putting a shot past the goalie inside the far post.

The Cougars nearly made it 2-0 later in the first half when
Nicole Palanza beat two defenders with a step over before ripping a shot off the right post.
Ashley Edgell put the rebound away, but was whistled offside.

Late into the second half Smith turned provider, crossing a ball from the left wing into the box, which Gallagher ripped into the left corner to ice the game for the Cougars.

Misericordia took 19 shots and took 10 corners in the game.

The Cougars move to 6-0 and host number two Messiah, Saturday at 5:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
