Two of the top women's soccer teams in the nation will meet Saturday when number eight Misericordia University hosts number two Messiah at 5:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
Misericordia enters the game at 6-0 following a 2-0 win over Franklin & Marshall while Messiah is 4-0-1 after beating Mary Washington, 3-0.
The teams have met five times in the last four years with Messiah winning four times, including a 1-0 double-OT win a year ago. The squads battled to a 0-0 draw at Mangelsdorf Field in 2013.
The Cougars have opened the 2015 season with six consecutive shutouts and have outscored opponents 15-0 in that span.
Alex Gallagher (3g, 4a) leads the MU attack with 10 points while
Rileigh Jo Evitts (2g, 1a),
Kylen Smith (1g, 3a) and
Jacqueline Stevens (2g, 1a) all add five points.
Meghan Antrim and
Hannah Larkin both have two goals.
Maureen Ciccosanti and
Alyssa Pojero have split time in goal.
Messiah has allowed just two goals this season, including one in a 1-1 draw at William Smith.
Nikki Elsaesser (5g, 3a) leads the Falcons with 13 points while Marisa Weaver (3g, 1a) adds seven points.Â
Holly Burgard and Aly Reinhardt both have three goals.
Audra Larson has posted two shutouts and has a .40 goals against average.
