The Misericordia University women's soccer team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with a 4-0 win over King's, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Jackie Stevens had two goals and
Amber Hartranft added a goal and an assist.Â
Jeanna Orfanos scored a goal as MU improved to 8-2 overall.
After a couple of good scoring opportunities, the Cougars got on the board at 12:43 when
Alexa Alchevsky played a ball to Stevens on the right side of the box where she lofted a shot over the King's keeper into the left side of the net.
MU made 2-0 late in the half when
Kylen Smith served a ball into the box from the left side and Hartranft won a battle with two defenders and one-timed a goal into an empty net from six yards out.
Orfanos settled a ball on the left side of the box and placed a shot across the goal mouth inside the right post for a 3-0 lead at 58:59.
Stevens closed out the scoring when she buried a shot from the left wing to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead at 68:35.
Misericordia had a 19-3 edge in shots and the only four corners of the game.
Alyssa Pojero had three saves in 80 minutes in goal for the Cougars. Jess Schenfeld had seven saves for King's.
MU will host Scranton, Wednesday. King's is 3-5 and will travel to Moravian, Wednesday.
