Eldridge, Cougars Cruise Past Bulldogs

The Misericordia University field hockey team beat DeSales, 4-0, on a cold Saturday afternoon at McGeehan Field.

Kyleigh Knell scored twice while Colby Eldridge and Kailey Vogl each scored once. Eldridge added three assists while Vogl added one.

Three minutes into the contest, Eldridge sent a ball in from the top of the crease that found Knell, who tapped it to make it 1-0 MU.

Vogl passed the ball to Knell who was all alone on the far post, but the keeper kicked her shot away.

With a little under three minutes to go in the half, Haley Gruber took a pass from Vogl and blasted a shot that went just wide of goal. MU went into the half up 1-0.

The Cougars struck again seven minutes into the second half.

Eldridge sent a ball in to Vogl who took a touch before blasting it off the keepers pad and in to make the score 2-0 MU.

With 19 minutes to go in the game Eldridge notched her final assist, once again setting up Knell to make it 3-0.

Four minutes later Vogl set up Eldridge to make it 4-0.

Katelyn Campbell and Jenn Gazdick made five saves combined to earn the shutout.

Gazdick entered the game in the final 10 minutes and stopped a penalty stroke to maintain the shutout.

MU outshot DeSales 13-7.

Misericordia will play Wilkes, Thursday at 7:00.
