MU Women Hosting DeSales in MAC Freedom Final

The Misericordia University women's soccer team will host DeSales in the MAC Freedom championship game, Saturday at 4:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Misericordia is the top seed and improved to 16-3 with a 1-0 win over FDU-Florham in Wednesday's semifinals.  DeSales, the defending MAC Freedom champion, is 9-9 after beating Wilkes, 2-1, in overtime.
 
Admission for MAC Freedom championships is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.  Children under six-years-old are admitted free.  Pets are prohibited at Misericordia University athletics facilities.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year Jacqueline Stevens (9g, 13a) scored the game-winner for the Cougars against FDU-Florham and leads the MU attack with 31 points while Gallagher (11g, 1a) adds 23 points.  Ashley Edgell (9g, 1a) has 19 points and Kylen Smith (2g, 7a) has 11 while Amber Hartranft (4g, 1a) and Jeanna Orfanos (3g, 3a) both have nine.
 
Alyssa Pojero has 13 shutouts and a 0.50 goals against average.
 
Misericordia beat DeSales 3-0 during the regular season and also beat the Bulldogs in their only previous post-season meeting.  DeSales is making its third straight trip to the MAC Freedom title game.
 
Angela Bertola (16g, 7a) leads DeSales with 39 points while Jess  Wetherhold (5g, 11a) is second with 21 Gabby Lucchese (7g, 3a) and Dannie Engwall (5g, 7a) both have 17 points.
