The Misericordia University women's basketball used a big third quarter to rally for a 65-62 win over King's, Saturday in the Anderson Center.
Rachel Carmody led the Cougars with 16 points and 11 rebounds and
Japriya Carroll and
Justine Seely both added 10 points.
MU's lone senior
Nikki Baro had six points three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block on Senior Appreciation Day.
Baro scored MU's first six points and the teams ended an evenly played first quarter tied, 10-10.
King's took advantage of eight Misericordia turnovers in the second period and used an 18-2 run to build a 35-19 halftime lead.
Down 41-26, Carmody hit a jumper with 6:06 to go in the third period to ignite a 9-0 run.Â
Liz Waleski converted a three-point play and
Leanne Forsyth and Jackie Hajec both made short jumpers to get within 41-35 with 4:30 left in the period.
After a King's bucket, Carmody's driving layup started another 9-0 run.
Seely made a layup and Carroll sank a pair of free throws before drilling a three-pointer to give the Cougars a 44-43 lead with 1:16 left in the period.
Seely completed a three-point play to break a 51-51 tie three minutes into the fourth quarter and the Cougars never trailed again.
Misericordia improved to 7-16 overall and 3-9 in the MAC Freedom with the sweep of King's. The Cougars will host Eastern, Tuesday at 6:00 in the home finale.
