The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped its home finale to Eastern, 83-58, Tuesday night in the Anderson Center.
Liz Waleski scored a team-high 14 points while Jackie Hajec and
Justine Seely added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Japriya Carroll had eight points and Seely and
Shannon Croasdale had a team-high six rebounds.
The Cougars trailed 7-0 before Seely made a free throw four minutes into the game.
Carroll got a steal at midcourt and went the distance for a layup and
Leanne Forsyth found Seely on a nice cut to get within 11-7, with 3:43 to play in the opening quarter.
Eastern scored eight straight points before Hajec drained a three from the top of the key to end the first quarter down 19-10.
Hajec hit a short jumper in the lane and Waleski drilled a three from the left wing to keep MU within 27-17 early in the second quarter, but the Eagles stretched the lead to 40-24 at halftime.
The Eagles increased their lead to 55-35 midway through the third quarter before the Cougars mounted a charge.
Forsyth and Waleski converted back-to-back three-point plays to get within 56-42.
Forsyth found Seely underneath and Hajec made two free throws to cut the margin to 59-47.
Waleski buried a three-pointer from the left corner to end the third period down 61-50, but that was as close as the Cougars got.
Eastern went on a 28-6 spurt to open the fourth quarter and put the game out of reach.
MU will close out the season at Manhattanville, Saturday.
