Women's Lax Wins Tight Game Against Hartwick

The Misericordia women's lacrosse team won a physical game against Hartwick, 9-7, Friday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.

Olivia Garcia had a huge game for the Cougars, scoring two goals and dishing out four assists, Allie Elmes scored two goals and assisted another while Liz Mulvey scored twice.

Emily Russin scored a goal and assisted another meanwhile Ashley Hobbs and Cara Spector scored one goal apiece.

The game started off at a furious pace, with the teams combining for six goals in the first nine minutes of play.

MU struck first just a minute and a half into the game through Garcia, who scored while the Cougars were a man-up.

Just over a minute later, Garcia found the back of the net again, this time off a pass from Russin.

Garcia turned provider just 24 seconds later, assisting Mulvey to give MU a 3-0 lead.

The Hawks came right back and scored two goals 16 seconds apart to get within one, and then they scored again five minutes later to tie the game at three.

The teams traded goals in the final ten minutes, with Elmes scoring with 5:33 to go and then she scored with under a minute remaining off a pass from Garcia to make it 5-5 heading into half.

Hartwick scored three minutes into the second half to take the lead and the teams traded possession without scoring for over 10 minutes.

Spector tied things up off a Garcia assist, and four minutes later Russin scored off another Garcia assist to recapture the lead for MU.

Hobbs and Mulvey scored a minute apart to make it 9-6; then Hartwick scored 20 seconds after the Mulvey goal to close-out the scoring.

The Hawks outshot the Cougars 17-16, but the Cougars were more accurate, getting more of their shots on goal, 14-11.

MU is 2-3 on the year and will play at Albright, Monday at 4:30.
