The Eastern University men's lacrosse team used a big first quarter to defeat Misericordia University, 12-5, Saturday afternoon in St. David's.
The Cougars fell behind 6-1 after one period and pulled within 8-5 after three quarters.
Phil Fraher scored two goals and
Kyle Reese had a goal and an assist.
Nick Kenna and
Lane Kocovsky both scored goals.
David Pettine had four caused turnovers and three ground balls and
Josh Shanker made nine saves for the Cougars.
Reese, Kenna and Kocovsky all had three ground balls.
Eastern led 5-0 midway through the first quarter before Fraher scored unassisted with 5:49 remaining.
Kenna scored unassisted in the second quarter and the Cougars trailed 7-2 at halftime.
Fraher and Reese scored early in the third period and Kocovsky added a goal with 28 seconds to play as MU cut the deficit to 8-5 heading into the fourth quarter.
Eastern scored four times in the fourth quarter.
MU will host Wilkes, Wednesday at 7:00.
