The Misericordia softball team swept Delaware Valley, 1-0, 11-2 (five innings) Saturday afternoon at Anderson Field.
Bailee Schies scattered four hits across 9.0 innings to get the win in game one.
Abby Marzzacco was 2-4 while
Whitney Ellenberg was 1-4 with a triple and a run scored.
Mackenzie Yurko went 1-3 with a double.
Schies did not allow a hit after the fifth inning.
In the sixth inning,
Melanie Quintanilla made an impressive diving stop on a ball to her a right and just threw the runner out at first.
In the bottom of the ninth, Ellenberg led off with a triple to left center. She scored on a wild pitch to win the game.
Maddie Stebich picked up the win in game two, allowing seven hits through five innings.
Melissa Parker went 3-4 with two home runs and six RBI.
Lori Brennan went 2-3 with an RBI and a walk while
Cailey Ware went 2-3 with a run scored.
Quintanilla was hit by a pitch and
Abby Marzzacco singled. Parker helped MU to three runs with a homer to left. Ellenberg would later score on a wild pitch to put the Cougars up 4-0 through one.
Delaware Valley got two runs back in the second, but MU struck again in the third.
Quintanilla singled up the middle to score Ware, Marzzacco singled and then Brennan walked to plate
Diana Kestenbaum. Quintanilla scored on an error to make it 8-2 MU at the end of three.
Quintanilla reached on error and two batters later
Lori Brennan singled up the middle. Parker got the 100
th hit of her career in style, blasting the ball over the centerfield fence to give MU an 11-2 victory.
The Cougars move to 19-11, 7-3 in the MAC Freedom and will host Scranton, Tuesday at 3:00.
