The Misericordia University softball team used a pair of late-inning rallies to sweep Scranton, 3-2, 7-5, Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Field.
Whitney Ellenberg hit a game-tying solo homer in sixth inning of the opener and
Melissa Parker delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.
Abby Marzzacco had three hits and Parker and
Melanie Quintanilla had two hits each.
Bailee Schies worked three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.
In the nightcap, the Cougars scored seven runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to erase a 5-0 deficit.
Alexa Doggett had a two-run double and Parker had a two-run single top the Cougars in front.
Alissa Steier worked 1.1 innings in relief of Schies to earn the win.
Snyder and Marissa Ciriello had two hits each for Scranton.
Parker and
Cailey Ware had two hits for MU.
Ellenberg drilled a two-out double off the fence in right center and Ware followed with a single to center. Kestenbaum drove in a run with a single up the middle and Doggett drove in two more with a double into the left field corner.
After a pitching change,
Mackenzie Yurko drew a four-pitch walk and Quintanilla singled up the middle.
Marzzacco reached on a bad-hop single and Parker lined a single to center and Marzzacco came all the way around when the ball was misplayed.
