The Misericordia softball team split against Lycoming, Thursday afternoon at Anderson Field.
The Cougars came from behind to win 5-4 before falling 5-1 in game two.
In game one,
Caitlin Kennedy was 2-4 with an RBI while
Lori Brennan was 2-3 with a double and a RBI.
Cailey Ware was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored while
Alexa Doggett was 1-1 with two RBI.
Bailee Schies came in to pick up the win for Misericordia.
Lycoming leapt out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Cougars capitalized on a Warrior error to make it 2-1 after the first.
Abby Marzzacco walked, Brennan bunted her over to second and
Melissa Parker smacked a ball to center that the center fielder dropped which allowed Marzzacco to score from second.
Eeach team crossed the plate once in the fourth inning to make it 3-2 Lycoming after four.
After the first two batters were retired, Marzzacco drew another walk and Brennan smashed a double to right to score the first-year right fielder.
Lycoming struck again in the fifth, but the Cougars knotted things at 4-4 at the bottom of the inning.
Whitney Ellenberg drew a walk, Ware singled to right an advanced to second on the throw which left runners at second and third with one out. Doggett came in to pinch hit and ripped a single to center to tie the game at 4-4.
In the sixth, the Cougars scored the deciding run.
Jessica Pluta reached on error and Brennan followed up with a single to right. Kennedy roped a single to right which plated Pluta.
Schies struck out the first two batters and got the last one to foul-out to first to end the game.
In game two Lycoming again jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but this time Misericordia didn't have an answer.
Ware had the first Cougar hit in the bottom of the sixth with a single through the right side. Doggett followed up with a single through the left side.
Mackenzie Yurko bunted the runners over and Pluta reached on an error by the second basemen which allowed Ware to score to lone MU run.
The split leaves MU at 22-12 heading into a MAC Freedom conference showdown at King's, Saturday at 1:00.
