The Misericordia University softball team clinched a MAC Freedom playoff berth with a sweep at King's, Saturday.
MU rallied for a 4-3 extra-inning win in the opener and took the nightcap, 4-2.
Bailee Schies scattered eight hits over eight innings to earn the win and Melissa Parker drove in three runs on two hits, including a two-run homer in the eighth.
Melanie Quintanilla had two hits and an RBI and Cailey Ware added two hits.
Quintanilla had three hits in the nightcap and Mackenzie Yurko had two hits and two RBI. Alissa Steier allowed just six hits to pick up the win.
Trailing 2-0 in the opener, MU cut the deficit in half with a run in the top of the sixth. Quintanilla singled down the left field, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Parker's two-out single to left.
Misericordia tied it with another two-out run in the seventh. With one out, Ware singled to right and moved to second on Yurko's two-out single up the middle. Quintanilla followed with a single to left to drive in the game-tying run.
Lori Brennan led off the eighth with a single down the right field line and Parker's opposite field homer to right gave the Cougars a 4-2 lead.
King's got a run back on three hits in the bottom of the eighth, but Schies induced a pop up and stranded two runners to end the game.
Quintanilla led off the second game with a single and eventually scored on a throwing error to give MU an early 1-0 lead.
Yurko's bases-loaded single down the right field line drove in two runs in the top of the fourth and Quintanilla followed with a single to left to make it 4-0.
King's scored once in the fifth and once in the sixth, but Steier retired the side in order in the seventh to secure the win.
MU improved to 24-12 overall and 9-3 in the MAC Freedom and will host Susquehanna, Thursday.
