Aigeldinger Scores Twice as MU Men Give Loughnane First Win

Box Score The Misericordia University men's soccer team opened the season with a 5-1 win at Clarks Summit University to give head coach Andy Loughnane his first career win.

Ethan Aigeldinger scored twice for the Cougars and Chris Edkins and Niko Amity both added goals.  The Cougars also were aided by an own goal by the Defenders.

Patrick Hoffman made two saves in collegiate debut in goal.

Aigeldinger gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal off a deflection 15 minutes into the game.

Edkins made it 2-0 when he headed home a George Stock corner just three minutes into the second half.

Clark Summit cut the lead in half six minutes later, but the Cougars closed with three goals over the final 20 minutes.

Aigeldinger made it 3-1 at 71:20 and the Cougars went up 4-1 when Levi Robert's shot deflected off a Defender for an own-goal at 87:02.

Niko Amity closed the scoring from six yards out in the final minute of play.

Misericordia will host Ursinus it their home opener, Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Mangelsdorf Field.
