Box Score Ashley Edgell scored a pair of goals and
Hannah Larkin had two assists as the Misericordia University women's soccer team beat RIT, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
After several near misses in the first half, Edgell got MU on the board at 35:28 when she volleyed a serve from Larkin inside the right post.
The two combined again midway through the second half when Larkin served a ball from the left flank and Edgell ripped a shot from the top of the box into the upper left corner at 67:28.
Misericordia held a 17-5 advantage in shots and
Alyssa Pojero stopped the only two shots on goal for the shutout.
Jordyn Martini nearly got MU on the board at the 10:00 mark when she lofted a shot over the RIT keeper from 25 yards out, but it bounced off the crossbar.
Jeanna Orfanos dribbled in from the left flank and rolled a shot just wide of the right post just 90 seconds later.
Martini ripped another long shot wide right six minutes later.
RIT's best chance of the half came after an MU foul near the end line, Pojero won the ball out of the air in front of her net.
Edgell got on the end of one of several dangerous crosses from
Kylen Smith, but chipped a shot over the net at 31:40.
The Cougars had a good opportunity early in the second half when
Alex Gallagher played a ball through to Orfanos, but the RIT keeper came off her line to win the ball.
Kristen Ritter tracked back to thwart a dangerous chance in the box for RIT late in the second half.
MU's
Robin Erb ripped a shot from the top right corner of the box that went just wide left with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Misericordia is 4-0 and will face Buffalo State tomorrow at 2:30.
