The Lycoming football team used a big third quarter to break open a close game on the way to a 35-17 win over Misericordia, Saturday afternoon in Williamsport.

Leading 14-3 at halftime, the Warriors scored three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter.

Misericordia added two scores in the fourth quarter.

After the teams traded punts on their opening possessions, the Cougars took a 3-0 lead on a school record 40-yard field goal by
Ryan Davis midway through the first quarter.

Clayton Vleck added a one yard TD late in the fourth quarter and Tom Anderson had a 20 yard fumble return for a score for the Cougars.

MU's
Aaron Barry was 21-33 in his first career start at quarterback and Vleck gained 60 yards on 12 carries.

Isaiah Williams had 10 receptions for 56 yards.

Damian Diaz led the MU defense with six tackles while Anderson,
Jordan Aquino and
Fredo Santorelli all had five stops.

On their second possession of the game, the Cougars took over at their own 32 and went 45 yards in 11 plays to take the lead.

Vleck had nine yards on two carries on the first series and added an eight-yard reception for a first down at midfield on the next series.Â

Mark Rainey followed with a run and six-yard reception for a first down at the Lyco 37.

Josh Dieter's seven-yard catch on third down was short of the first down and the Cougars settled for the Davis field goal with 6:46 left in the first quarter.

Lyco answered with a TD and led 7-3 after one quarter.

The Warriors added a TD midway through the second quarter to take a 14-3 lead at halftime before breaking the game open with three TD's in the third quarter.

Barry connected with
Josh Cady on back-to-back plays for 41 yards to the Lycoming 20 yard line. Rainey picked up eight yards on two carries and Barry went for five yards on fourth-and-one to keep the drive alive and set up first and goal.

Vleck picked up five yards on first down and went in from one yard out to make it 35-10 with 5:10 to play.

Anderson forced a fumble on the next Lyco drive and returned it 20 yards for a score with 2:41 remaining.
