MU Men Battle to Draw With DeSales

The Misericordia University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with DeSales, Saturday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Niko Amity scored for the Cougars.  Patrick Hoffman made four saves in goal.

Amity gave the Cougars a lead midway through the first half when his shot from 30 yards out deflected off a DeSales defender and inside the right post.

DeSales tied it on a penalty kick with just 9:04 to go in regulation.

Levi Roberts kept MU alive in overtime when he cleared a ball of his own line with just over a minute to play in the first extra session.

MU had the best chance of the second OT when Cody Rogers charged through the box to get a head on a cross, but DeSales keeper Dan Sulpizio was in position to make the save.

Amity gave Misericordia the first scoring chance of the night when he received a ball near midfield and attacked from the right side before bending a shot wide of the far post.

Tristan Wright nearly gave the Cougars the lead in the 15th minute when he grounded a shot from 30 yards out, but Sulpizio made a diving save near the left post.

Minutes later, Wright served the ball to Amity who gave MU the lead.

John Caracappa's blast from 30 yards out was just over the bar as the Cougars looked to build on their lead.

Misericordia will visit Eastern, Wednesday.
