Dickinson made the game-winning shot at the buzzer to cap a late rally in a 60-59 win over the Misericordia University men's basketball team, Saturday afternoon in Carlisle.
The Cougars led 57-47 with 7:16 to go, but managed just two points the rest of the way.
Jason Kenny led MU with 19 points and
Tyerell Mann added 11.
Tony Harding had a team-high eight rebounds and Kenny, Mann,
Alec Rodway and
Brendan Leonard all had three assists.
After going back-and-forth throughout much of the first half,
Noah Rivera gave the Cougars a 25-24 lead with a free throw with 6:06 to play.
Kenny made a three-pointer and a pair of free throws and Rivera added a layup to make it 34-27 with 3:44 to go.
Rodway nailed a three-pointer and fed Mann on a fastbreak off a Kenny steal to stretch the lead to 39-27 with 2:02 remaining.
Mann finished another break off a defensive rebound by Kenny to put the Cougars up 41-27 with 1:11 to play in the first half.
Dickinson scored five points in the final minute to cut the margin to 41-32 at halftime.
The Devils pulled within a point early in the second half, but a three-pointer by
Stone McCreary and a layup by Kenny following a steal by Leonard put the Cougars back in front by 10, 54-44, with 12:19 to play.
The Cougars will open MAC Freedom play at Manhattanville, Wednesday.
