MU Hosting MBB MAC Freedom Final

The Misericordia University men's basketball team will host DeSales in the MAC Freedom championship game, Saturday at 3:00 in the Anderson Center.

Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.  Children under six-years-old are free.

Misericordia, 19-7, is making its fifth appearance in the title game after knocking off second-seeded Eastern, 85-65, Wednesday.
DeSales, 18-8, is seeded fourth and reached the finals with a 79-57 win at top-seeded Delaware Valley, Thursday.

Misericordia won both regular season meetings against DeSales, including a 91-83 decision at DeSales two weeks ago.  MU won 99-76 in the Anderson Center in January.

Misericordia is led by a balanced scoring attack that features three of the top 10 scorers in the league, including first-team All-MAC Freedom selection Jason Kenny, who led the league with 21.0 points per game. 

MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year Tony Harding, a second-team All-MAC Freedom selection, was sixth with 14.8 ppg and Tre Fields was eighth with 13.9 ppg.  Griffin Sponaugle adds 11.5 ppg and went over 1,000 points for his career in the semifinal win at Eastern.

James Hawk adds 6.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while Noah Rivera averages 6.6 points and 5.4 rebounds.

Harding is MU's top rebounder and was sixth in the league with 7.0 rpg.

Harding was second in the league in field goal percentage at 51.8% while Kenny was third at 49.7%.  Kenny led the league in free throw shooting at 82.5% and was ranked among the top 11 in the league in assists along with Sponaugle, Alec Rodway and Fields.

Rodway, Sponaugle and Kenny were among the top sixth in assists to turnover ratio.

Second-team All-MAC Freedom selection Ryan Callahan leads DeSales in scoring with 12.6 ppg and is ranked 12th in the league.  Kuity Slanger, a first-team All-MAC choice, is 18th with 11 ppg while Brian Laird and Connor Jones add 10.6 ppg.

Slanger is the Bulldogs' top rebounder at 5.3 rpg and is ranked 12th in the league while Callahan and Brandon Bridy add 5.2 and 4.8 rpg, respectively.

DeSales' Brian Laird is second in the MAC Freedom with 2.5 three-pointers per game and Callahan is fifth in free throw percentage at 78.6 while Slanger leads the league with 4.9 assists per game.

Misericordia led the MAC Freedom in scoring with 86.4 points per game while DeSales was second at 78.9.  The Bulldogs led the league in scoring defense at 70.4 ppg.

The Cougars were second in field goal percentage (46.5%) while leading the league in FG% defense (40.1%).  DeSales led the league in field goal percentage (48.9%) and was third in FG% defense (42.2%).
