Box Score The Misericordia University men's basketball was unable to recover from an early deficit in an 87-75 loss at Delaware Valley, Saturday.
Jason Kenny led the Cougars with 26 points while
Tony Harding added 13.Â
Noah Rivera had 10 points and seven rebounds and
Alec Rodway added seven rebounds.
The Cougars missed their first 14 shots from the field as they fell behind 13-0 less than seven minutes into the game.
Two free throws by
Griffin Sponaugle and Harding layup got the Cougars within 26-20 with 5:51 left in the first half. Â Harding's three-pointer made it 30-25 two minutes later, but MU never got any closer.
Trailing 39-31 at halftime,
Tre Fields opened the second half with a layup, but the Aggies used a 9-1 run to take a 48-35 lead with 16:53 to play.
Rivera scored back-to-back layups and Rodway converted a three-point play to cut the Aggies' lead to 62-56 with 9:14 to go, but Del Val responded with six straight points.
A three-point play by Kenny and Sponaugle's three-pointer keyed an 8-2 spurt that pulled MU within 74-68 with 3:22 left.
After four straight Del Val points, Harding drilled a three-pointer and Rodway added a layup to get the Cougars within 79-73 with 2:03 remaining, but that was as close as they came and the Aggies converted nine free throws over the final 1:55 to secure the win.
The Cougars are 14-5 overall and fell into a tie for fourth place in the MAC Freedom at 5-5.
MU will host King's, Wednesday.
