Justine Seely and
Rachel Carmody both had double-doubles for the second straight game to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to an 86-74 win at Delaware Valley, Saturday.
Seely had 22 points and 13 rebounds and Carmody added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Jaclyn Hajec had 14 points
Japriya Carroll added 13 points for the Cougars.Â
Shannon Croasdale added nine points and
Leanne Forsyth had five assists as the Cougars won their fourth straight game to improve to 14-6 overall and 8-2 in the MAC Freedom.
Hajec led MU's three-point barrage with four long-range baskets as the Cougars shot 47.8% (11-23) from three-point range for the game. Carroll and Croasdale both added three three-pointers.
Croasdale opened the game with a three-pointer and the Cougars never trailed. MU built a 10-point lead late in the quarter and led 21-13 after 10 minutes.
Layups by Carmody and Seely and a three-pointer from Hajec gave the Cougars a 28-13 lead midway through the second quarter. The Aggies cut the lead to eight with 2:48 to go in the first half, but jumpers by Hajec and Carroll gave the Cougars a 39-26 lead at intermission.
Croasdale's three-pointer early in the third quarter gave MU its biggest lead of the day, 45-28. The Aggies closed the period on an 8-3 and the Cougars led 57-46 after three quarters.
After Del Val pulled within 68-60 with 4:38 to play, the Cougars scored eight straight points to put the game away. Seely started the run with a layup and sank two free throws along with Forsyth and Carroll to stretch the MU lead to 76-60 with 2:55 to go.
Misericordia will host King's, Wednesday.
