The Misericordia men's lacrosse team lost to Coast Guard Academy, 13-5, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Pat Kellish had a goal and two assists,
Chris Fleming had one goal and one assist, while
Jake Kocovsky andÂ
Brandon Winslow each tallied one goal apiece. Andrew Philips and
Phil Fraher each had one assist.
John Tierney and
Alec Kellish each had three caused turnovers.
Brandon Winslow scored off a pass from P. Kellish to make it 1-0 MU with 6:29 left in the first quarter.
With under a minute left,
Fleming set up P. Kellish at the back post to put Misericordia up 2-0 after the first quarter.
The second quarter was all Coast Guard as they scored five goals and went in the half ahead 5-2.
The Bears scored the opening goal of the second half inside the first minute, but the Cougars quickly responded.
Phillips picked up a ground ball, ran down and passed it to P. Kellish
who fired it home to make it 6-3.
Coast Guard scored the next six goals, and with 9:05 to go in the fourth quarter they led 12-3.
Kocovsky
jumped and fired a shot past the goalie to make it 12-4. Neither team scored over the next five minutes before Coast guard scored a man down to push their lead to nine.
Playing a man up, Fraher zipped the ball to Fleming who was alone on the back post and
he beat the keeper to close the scoring at 13-5.
The Cougars will host Elizabethtown, Wednesday at 4:00.
