The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team defeated Alvernia, 20-10, Monday afternoon in Clearwater, Florida at Phillip Jones Park.

Chris Fleming had five goals, three assists and three caused turnovers. Patrick Kellish had three goals, two assists and six ground balls. Jake Kocovsky had three goals and an assist, Sean McSwiggan had a goal and two assists while Brandon Winslow had two goals and an assist.

John Tierney had one goal and one assist and Paul Hanrahan netted twice and added two ground balls. Phil Fraher had one assist while Thomas Vassallo, Kyle Reese and Patrick DeMichele all found the back of the net once.

The Cougars scored four times in the opening five minutes to take a 4-0 lead. P. Kellish scored twice while
Fleming and DeMichele each scored once. Alvernia got one back as the first quarter ended with MU up 4-1.

Kocovsky scored, McSwiggan set up Fleming and Tierney set up Hanrahan in the opening three minutes of the second as the Misericordia lead went up to 7-1.

The Crusaders got one back before Fleming and P. Kellish scored. Winslow set up Kocovsky for another as MU went up 10-2.

Alvernia scored four of the next five goals as they closed the gap to five at 11-6 with just over two minutes to go in the half.

The Cougars scored one more as Fleming assisted Hanrahan's second goal as MU went into the half up 12-6.

Misericordia outscored Alvernia 8-4 in the second half to seal their third win of the season.

The Cougars out-shot the Crusaders, 60-27.

MU will play Methodist, Friday at 7:00.
