The Misericordia University baseball team lost to Drew, 6-4, Monday afternoon in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Alec Iurato was 1-3 with a double, a run scored and walk.
Steve Weisensee was 1-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
Curt Jorgensen started for the Cougars and went five plus innings. He struck out two while allowing two runs.
Misericordia struck first, scoring all four of their runs in the bottom of the second.
Iurato led off with a double down the left field line,
Alec St. Pier reached on an error by the third baseman and
Santo Guinta reached on an error by the pitcher. With the bases loaded, Weisensee singled into right. The right fielder misplayed it which allowed the bases to clear.
Weisensee later scored on a squeeze bunt by
Parker Abate.
A sac fly in the third and another in the sixth by Drew made it 4-2 Misericordia.
In the top of the seventh, Drew scored three runs and looked to do more damage, but a 643 double play allowed MU to escape further harm.
Drew walked with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth to score the final run of the game.
Misericordia will play LaRoche, Tuesday at 1:30.
